William J. 'Brother' Collins
FRAMINGHAM
-- William J. "Brother" Collins, 82, a lifelong resident of
Framingham, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at MetroWest Medical
Center in Natick.
He was the husband
of Irene M. (Liberatore) Collins. They were married for 43 years
Born and raised in
Framingham, he was the son of the late Timothy J. and Elizabeth
(Ward) Collins.
During World War II,
he served in the U.S. Army in the Medical Detachment of the 263rd
Infantry Regiment. He worked as a firefighter for the Town of
Framingham from 1957 until his retirement in 1987. Following his
retirement, he volunteered at the Columbus Hall and was a member of
the Fraternal Order of Eagles 894, the Benevolent and Protective
Order of Elks 1264, and the Knights of Columbus Couer de Lion
Council 87, all of Framingham.
Besides his wife, he
is survived by his son, Timothy Collins, and his grandchildren,
Courtney and Kyle Collins, all of Framingham; and his brother,
Francis Collins and his wife, Margaret Collins, of Needham.
He was the brother
of the late Janet E. Collins, Catherine MacConnell and Fred Collins.
Visitation will be
held Saturday, Oct. 15, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., at the Norton
Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (corner of Union Avenue), Framingham,
followed by a funeral Mass, at 9 a.m., in St. Linus Church, 119
Hartford St., Natick.
Following cremation,
burial will take place at a later date in the family lot in St.
Stephen's Cemetery |
