Click on this picture to see the area of Florida where we live
and where we are building. Click "Back" on your browser to
return to this page. We are about 1/2 mile north of the Downtown area and the
Ice Palace which is the home of the Tampa Bay Lightening. About 1/4 mile from
the Performing arts center. About 1/2 mile west of Ybor City, which is the Latin
Quarter of Tampa and a mini New Orleans but just as wild. About 3 miles
from Raymond James Stadium, Home of the Buccaneers, and Legends Field which is
the winter home and training complex of the NY Yankees. Legends field was
constructed in 1996 and is a small replica of Yankee Stadium. It is about
a 20 minute drive across the bay to Tropicana Field which is the home of the
Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Tampa is a city of well defined neighborhoods. I don't
know how many but I just counted 14 off the top of my head and I know there are
at least twice that many. Most of them have a well organized neighborhood
association and all of them are very active in politics here.
Because we purchased the land from the City of Tampa we were
required to present our house plans at a meeting of the "Tampa Heights
Neighborhood Association." Although they are more concerned with the
type of construction and design used to build in the Tampa Heights Historic
District, which is located 3 blocks East of us, they did make several
recommendations and we will use most of them. Click on the Historic
District button at the top of this page to see some pictures of the homes
that were remolded and/or built recently.

Then click on the Our Neighborhood button to see some of
the homes in our neighborhood. From there you can follow the construction
of our house.
